What is the Motability Scheme?

The Motability Scheme is an initiative that gives disabled motorists access to new cars using the government’s mobility allowance. These funds are used to pay for the lease on a new car as well as other parts of ownership, such as servicing, insurance, road tax, breakdown cover, and a number of adaptations that can make sure you’re completely comfortable behind the wheel. You can also add two named drivers to allow carers or family members to drive your vehicle, while new models are available every three years. Am I eligible?

You could be eligible for the Motability Scheme if you’re receiving one of the following:

Higher Rate Mobility Component of the Disability Living Allowance (HRMC DLA)
Enhanced Rate of the Mobility Component of the Personal Independence Payment (ERMC PIP)
War Pensioners' Mobility Supplement (WPMS) or
Armed Forces Independence Payment (AFIP)
