Nissan was the only UK brand to finish last year with two cars in the top-five best-sellers list - the British built Qashqai and Juke. The models were purchased by 76,872 new car buyers, topping off a successful year for the brand which saw them deliver a refreshed product line-up and award-winning cars.
In total, Nissan GB totalled 100,446 UK car sales in 2024, up 12.3% from 2023. This also meant they secured an impressive 5.14% market share (up almost half a percent from 2023).
“2024 was a challenging year in our industry, so to have secured these results is a testament to the hard work of everyone in our organisation, including our dealer partners, and to the strength of our vehicle line-up.
“It gives us powerful momentum as we look forward to an exciting year ahead for our brand and, with new cars like the ARIYA NISMO arriving imminently, I am confident we have the people, products and partners for success in 2025.”
- Diana Torres, Managing Director of Nissan GB
The popularity of the Nissan Qashqai and Juke in particular also ensured that the brand's Sunderland plant retained its title as the UK's all-time most successful vehicle manufacturing plant. With 6,000 employees, the plant has produced over half a million electrified cars in recent years, with a total production number of over 11.5m cars since 1986.
Many exciting changes were made to the Nissan line-up during 2024, including the introduction of upgraded Qashqai and Juke models, as well as new X-Trail and ARIYA variants. The new Interstar van was also unveiled, available with both diesel and fully electric power to give customers optimum choice. With such a strong line-up, it's no surprise that Nissan won eight trophies in recognition of its innovative models, offering exceptional performance in both the new and used markets. Nissan engineering chief David Moss also won a prestigious Mundy Award from Autocar.
