Toyota C‑HR

With a sporty exterior, exciting drive and generous levels of equipment, the C-HR from Toyota is a very attractive option if you are looking for a compact SUV. It is easy to see why the Toyota C-HR was a finalist for Auto Express European Car of the Year.

Sporty styling

Guaranteed to turn heads, the C-HR leads the way in terms of stylish good looks in the small SUV class. Curves through the lights and along the sides combine with angular features above the bumpers to create a truly distinctive look. Although it is a five-door crossover with a raised stance, it also has much of the look of a coupé, with low roof and rear door handles discreetly positioned in the window frames for an almost seamless look. A metallic black bi-tone roof on the range-topping Dynamic edition gives the appearance of a floating roof.

The three trim options for the C-HR are the Icon, Excel and Dynamic. The entry-level Icon comes with 17-inch alloy wheels, while the Excel edition has five double-spoke 18-inch black machine-faced alloys, and the Dynamic trim gets a ten double-spoke version of the wheels. Privacy glass is fitted on the Excel edition and upwards. Upgrade to the Dynamic and you get LED headlights, sequential LED indicator lights, LED front fog lamps as well as LED lights at the rear. Headlights on all models switch on automatically when light levels fall, so you don’t need to think about them at dusk, and automatic high-beam technology is also included, as well as automatic wipers.

Step inside the C-HR

The stylish cabin is finished with luxury materials, including a leather-covered steering wheel and gear knob. Controls for safe operation of the audio system and for phone calls are fitted on the steering wheel, and the Excel and Dynamic trims also benefit from voice recognition. Dual-zone automatic air conditioning is provided on all models for your comfort whatever the weather. When the temperature drops, you will be glad of the Excel edition’s heated seats for the driver and front passenger. Standard features designed to simplify parking include an electronic parking brake and a reversing camera on the Icon trim, with Intelligent Parking Assist technology on the Excel and Dynamic models.

Responsive power

The C-HR is powered by a 1.2-litre 115bhp petrol turbo, available with six-speed manual or automatic transmission. There is also a hybrid option, which combines a 1.8-litre petrol engine with electric power in an automatic front-wheel drive edition. The Icon is available with front-wheel drive only, while the Excel and Dynamic editions also have the option of all-wheel drive.

Safer and easier journeys

Toyota’s Safety Sense technologies make sure your safety is a priority. Lane Departure Alert with Steering Control is fitted on all models, as is a pre-collision system with pedestrian detector. Adaptive cruise control and Road Sign Assist also help to keep you driving safely. ABS and Vehicle Stability Control are among the other safety features included across the range. Anti-jam mechanisms in the power windows ensure that little fingers don’t get caught if you have younger passengers.

Technology in the Toyota

A DAB radio, Bluetooth, USB and AUX-in connections are fitted as standard in the C-HR, with six speakers for the audio system. The Toyota Touch 2 Multimedia system with its eight-inch screen provides all you need for your infotainment, while a 4.2-inch TFT screen displays your vehicle data.
