New 308 GTi set to land at Yeomans Peugeot

Bold looks, sporty interior styling and a range of engines capable of delivering eye-watering acceleration have ensured plenty of attention for the new Peugeot 308 GTi following its world debut at this year's Goodwood Festival of Speed.

This performance-oriented hot hatch is the perfect companion for Peugeot's re-energised 208 GTi, and has been designed to deliver pure driving pleasure thanks to outstanding performance levels, nimble handling and the availability of advanced technology and safety features.

Drawing on their extensive motorsport experience, Peugeot Sport engineers set out to design a model that would deliver on every level. The car's contours are muscular and athletic, its posture accentuated by the fact that it sits 11mm closer to the ground compared to the standard 308. The GTi 270 version sits on a set of striking 19-inch aluminium Carbone wheels, twinned with Michelin Super Sport tyres and solid red four-piston callipers featuring the Peugeot Sport logo.

The aggressive front end with its two aerodynamic spoilers includes a wide black grille with a chequered flag design, flanked by full LED headlamps that maximise visibility and create a stylish light signature. Striking from every angle, the rear of the car comes with twin exhaust pipes and clear GTi badging on the tailgate.

The interior is just as dramatic with its clearly laid out instrument panel and compact sports steering wheel for superb handling. The top spec GTi 270 version comes equipped with supportive bucket seats, upholstered in Alcantara with red stitch detailing that can also be found on the car's door panels, gear stick and luxury floor mats.

Peugeot i-Cockpit with its driver-facing touchscreen makes it quick and safe to adjust the car's settings and access entertainment features while you're on the move. Peugeot's Driver Sport Pack also comes fitted as standard. With one press of a button the GTi's centre console display switches from white to red, additional information on power and torque is displayed, the engine's throaty growl is enhanced and the accelerator pedal mapping is altered to produce a more thrilling ride.

The GTi's punchy 1.6-litre turbo charged engine is offered in two power outputs, 250bhp and 270bhp. Acceleration from 0-60mph is possible in 6.2 seconds and six seconds flat respectively. Both variants will then push through to hit a top speed of 155mph. Compliant with Euro 6 emissions standards, the powerplant is able to keep CO2 emissions down to just 139g/km.

Helping to control all that power and deliver an incredibly responsive ride is a raft of advanced technology features, ranging from a ventilated carbon disc braking system to a bespoke front vertical suspension set-up. The top-of-the-range 270 variant also features Torsen® limited-slip differential to help maximise grip and improve stability and handling. Drivers can choose to test themselves by fully disconnecting the car's ESP at the touch of a button.

Maxime Picat, Peugeot brand Chief Executive, said: "Peugeot is proud to add the 308 GTi by Peugeot Sport to its stable. This is a car that has generated great anticipation among enthusiasts aware of Peugeot's history of hot hatches in the B and C-segments.

"From the 205 GTi to the latest 208 GTi and RCZ R, the brand has sold its sportier models to over 800,000 delighted customers. What's more, the 308 GTi by Peugeot Sport is a symbol of the brand's dynamism and upmarket shift."
