Choose your driving style
First and foremost, the CR–Z is designed to turn heads – with the innovative and sporty looks you’d expect from a Honda coupe. And with its agile handling, direct steering and 6–speed transmission, it’s also great fun to drive.
But we didn’t want to stop there. We decided the CR-Z would be a hybrid too - the first of its kind on the road. This not only offers cleaner exhaust emissions, but also helps the CR–Z feel even nippier.
The result? A driving experience like no other.
The unique 3-Mode Drive system of the CR-Z means you can choose whether you wish to boost your enjoyment or economy on each trip out – or get the perfect mix of both.
By switching to SPORT, ECON or NORM, the CR-Z will automatically alter the responses of the throttle, steering, idle stop time and climate control, and the level of support from its IMA (Integrated Motor Assist) system.
Each driving mode is also linked to the meter lighting, changing from red (SPORT) to blue (NORM) to green (ECON).
The CR-Z is the first in the world to combine a precise, driver-focussed 6-speed manual gearbox with a low emission, parallel hybrid system – made possible by the flexibility of Honda’s IMA (Integrated Motor Assist) system.
The 1.5 litre, 4 cylinder i-VTEC engine is also new to the UK, and works with the electric motor to provide a total power output of 124PS and 174Nm of torque. The electric motor also provides an unusually flat torque curve for a naturally aspirated engine – with the maximum arriving at just 1,500rpm. Both sound great together too.
This unique coupling offers CO2 emissions of just 117 g/km and fuel economy of 56.4mpg (preliminary figures and subject to homologation).
