Every shape – such as the sculpted wing mirrors – is aerodynamic and bold. Each feature adds character: it starts at ground level with the choice of stunning 16”, 17” and 18” alloy wheels. On vtr+ and exclusive this flows through the chrome window sills, dark tinted rear side and tailgate glass, and gloss black inserts.

Refining acoustics further, new polyphonic sound alerts, optional on vtr+ and standard on exclusive, provide four distinct themes that match different vehicle functions. They have each been fine tuned to match new Citroën C4’s focused calm. Adding to the sense of quiet sophistication, the cool blue instrument cluster fuses analogue and digital display technology to create perfect legibility: the blue shade is fully adjustable. Meanwhile the automatic air conditioning, standard on exclusive or optional on VTR+, allows fine tuning of the interior ambience – it even carries on working for several minutes after the engine is switched off

Occupants can enjoy plenty of space, including generous door pockets. In the front they can accommodate a 1.5 litre bottle and A4 documents with ease and rear doors will hold a 0.5 litre drink plus paperback. When it comes to travelling essentials, new Citroën C4 has them covered.

The EGS gearbox, available on e-HDi and THP 155 EGS models, is an advanced transmission that lets you select either effortless full automatic shifts, or manual changes via the steering wheel mounted paddles. It’s part of what makes Citroën efficient engineering unique. Another innovation is Stop & Start, which puts the engine into idle mode as you decelerate and stops altogether as you come to a halt. The moment you take your foot off the brake, it restarts silently and without vibration. It helps to reduce CO2 by about 5g/km and fuel consumption by 15% in the city.
